Must-Haves When Traveling

*Day 10 of 31 days of Traveling & Living Overseas with Kids

**All stories are true.

Besides the normal,

passports, children dressed, itinerary,

there are a few items we never leave the country without.

  1. Chewing gum
  2. Comfort items (aka blankets and such…)

3. Baby carriers/Backpacks

4. We always plan active days where we explore.

5. One good meal a day

We typically eat breakfast at the hotel, snack and grab food on the go for lunch

and have a sit down filling dinner.

It gives us a morale boost and is very satisfying after a long day exploring.

And yes that’s Sangria in Spain.

6. iPad movies & games

We use Amazon Instant Play

to buy a few movies

(and have requested them for holiday gifts).

We’ve also downloaded some games, some educational, some not

to allow them another outlet for excitement when the souq isn’t exciting enough.

This allows us a needed chill-out break when the going gets tough.

7. iPhones and iPods for music

We have several audiobooks and lots of music

that we store on an old iPhone along with asking for old iPods from family.

With headphones, this can make a rambunctious child calm and relaxed.

8. Crayons & Writing Utensils

Usually the kids have homework to complete while on the trip,

even if not, there is always extra brochures and pamphlets.

The kids love to get creative or write their own stories out

and we’ve made the mistake of forgetting these before

and they were sorely missed!

What are some essentials that you’ve packed for trips?
